ice ice baby

The IceOrb is an impressive little container. It makes ice cubes, stores them, can chill your drink or keep other foods cold.

The IceOrb can make 21 cubes at a time. Remove the container, fill it up with water (or anything else you want frozen), and replace it. The container forces the water into the ice cube trays. When the ice is frozen you remove the container and can easily pop the cubes out. If you just want to make ice, you can place the cubes in the container and make another round (the container holds around two and a half batches).

If the container is empty you can put ice cream or anything else you want chilled in it. When you travel the ice surrounding it keeps the contents cool—ideal for ice cream or chilling a bottle of wine. The container's lid fits neatly under the IceOrb to prevent condensation from getting the surface wet.

The IceOrb measures 6" around and 5" tall, and is available for $16 from Fusion Brands. There's a video on the page that nicely illustrates its many uses.

Watches for the villians

Omega may have sealed the deal for James Bond's watches but what about the villains. Enter Dr. Swatch, otherwise known as Nicolas G. Hayek. Swatch has created a new collection dedicated just to Bond's antagonists. The new collection will be out next month and will be a tribute to those Bond has sparred with in twenty-two James Bond films, from Dr. No to the forthcoming Quantum Of Solace. Featured villains will include Christopher Walken's Max Zorin, Gerd Froebe's Goldfinger, Lotte Lenya's Rosa Klebb and more. Sounds like fun, I'm just hoping my favorite, Richard Kiel (aka Jaws) has one.

it's ur bday

Forbes has just released its annual list of the world's highest-paid rappers, and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has catapulted to the #1 spot with $150 million in earnings over the past 12 months - more than double that of rival Jay-Z at No. 2.

When Forbes inaugurated the Hip-Hop's Cash Kings list last year, Jay-Z was firmly at the top. But 50 raked in over $100 million after taxes on a single deal earlier this year, the mag notes, when his stake in Glacéau (parent co. of VitaminWater) was bought by Coca-Cola as part of a $4.1 billion takeover.

This isn't to say that Jay-Z's doing badly; he recently signed a 10-year deal with concert promoter Live Nation worth $150 million. Meanwhile, Sean "Diddy" Combs and Kanye West clocked in at Nos. 3 and 4 with $35 million and $30 million respectively.

go green

We get them whenever we travel but hardly give a second thought to all those plastic keycards from hotels. Sustainable Cards has created wood hotel key cards and they will get their big debut at the Democratic National Convention. Around 70,000 biodegradable key cards will be used in Denver hotels.. The Sustainable Cards will be emblazoned with the Denver 2008 Host Committee logo and made from sustainably harvested wood. Wooden key cards have been used in Europe for years. While it wouldn't seem like such a small item would make a big difference, switching from plastic cards to biodegradable wood can reduce plastic waste equal to the volume of seven 777 airplanes in one year. The company also plans to offer wood gift cards in the future.

sugarcane

Sugarcane is the latest night club to open on the Las Vegas Strip. Sugarcane opened on Friday at the Palazzo Resort-Hotel-Casino. The club is located adjacent to SushiSamba's Las Vegas restaurant and will feature samba dancers, geishas, distinctive cocktails and over-the-top interior design. The 4,000 square foot club includes a stage, dance floor and DJ booth made of bamboo, smoked and frosted acrylic, resin and paper. Gold and chocolate brown leather cover wenge wood banquettes and the club's theme is displayed through 4,000 custom-made simulated "sugarcanes" which drop down from the ceiling and contain moving lights that wind through the tubes and rods. Brazilian graffiti artist Felipe Yung ("Flip") has also taken the spray paint can to various elements of Sugarcanes décor.

smell like diddy

Leonardo DiCaprio's gorgeous Israeli model girlfriend Bar Refaeli appears in the ad campaign for Sean Combs' modestly-named new fragrance, "I Am King." The pix (above) portray Puffy (or Diddy or whatever he's calling himself this week) tooling around in Saint-Tropez and Monaco on helicopters, yachts and so forth with Refaeli (left) and another model in typical mega-mogul fashion. New York magazine reports the new cologne will launch exclusively at Macy's in December with a global launch set for February, and a women's fragrance ("I Am Queen") to follow in 2009; global sales are expected to total $100 million in the first year alone.

a model affair

Vanity Fair has now picked up on the latest trend of the age of the supermodel, with an eight page story in the new September issue and a photo shoot by Mario Testino (right) featuring Cindy Crawford, Stephanie Seymour, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell. I love this!

megu

date night @ megu...nYc's super high-end Asian eatery..the menu is strange, the portions are tiny and the prices are astronomical. Expect to drop at least 3 bills for 2 people. insane (that's 1/4 of a good bag). tried the seabass for the first time and I have to admit it was pretty good but I still went home hungry. but Megu is still a great place for a first date, romantic evening, etc...just be ready to open your wallet.

Mad Anthony

Ant needed some help creating a bio, so being that I'm a firm supporter/helper of all go-getter's everywhere...here's what i did. check out the Mad Anthony line..it's at Memes, all over Japan, and it's about to explode.

Mad Anthony follows it’s own unique vision.
The Mad Anthony brand is a way of life that transcends chasing fads and fashion but pushes innovation, quintessential design aesthetics, quality and originality—creating a highly sustainable environment where streetwear and cutting-edge fashion coexist and cooperate. A graphic artist by nature, Mad Anthony implements a design esthetic that’s been inspired by his eclectic musical tastes, the cultural hodgepodge of his home in New York City and his San Francisco roots—Mad Anthony is a genuine reflection of the designers’ wild, mad ways, vivid imagination and metaphysical outlook on life.

Established in 2000, the Mad Anthony product line consists of tees, varsity jackets, and accessories that employ the designer’s multifaceted cultural influences to create signature icons such as the Mad Anthony lion logo and the dapper dread logo which depicts a king who is GOING PLACES. Mad Anthony continues to impress jaded city dwellers with the brand’s underlying depth and preeminent originality. With previous work experience at the CFDA award house Sean Jean, DKNY and NIKE and an arsenal of press coverage in highly recognized publications such as Warp (Japan), Vogue (US), IDN (Japan), Cover (Japan), Arena (UK) to name a few, the Mad Anthony brand has already received critical acclaim in two of the most fashion-forward cities in the world—New York and Japan, along with a loyal following of fans.

Mad Anthony is currently working on a eponymous high-end photography project and looks to expand the Mad Anthony brand throughout the US and the rest of the world.

Nu

NU is a French label that made its London debut at Margin this week. A funky street brand with a touch of the eco-rebel about them, they have styles for men and women in varying weights of organic African denim. Their Fair Trade production unit is located in Tunisia, where they have a closed loop water system for washing and dyeing the denim. Designer Maxime Guillon says, "It is out of the question for us to use 800 liters of water in the production of one pair of jeans." Amen.

The 2 Million Dollar Bespoke Aston Martin

The next Aston Martin flagship automobile is due for release later this year (possibly in Paris) and recently a few of the much anticipated details were released. What we know about the new One-77 model is that it will feature a hand-built 7.0-liter V12 engine, an aluminum and carbon fiber chassis, a top speed of 200+ mph, and a 0-60mph time of about 3.5 secs.

Only 77 One-77's will be made, each able to be customized to the individual owner's tastes and each carrying a price tag of about £1 million.
