Hermes Bluetooth

Bluetooth headsets have reached a new level of luxury with this ultra-stylish unit from Hermes Paris.
Designed by Emmanuel Laffon de Mazeres, the frame-shape is made of super lightweight carbon fiber, aluminum and supple leather.
Its custom-built silicon earring, molded over your ear, makes it extremely easy to wear. You can wear it for hours without feeling fatigued.
Air Tahiti Nui X Balenciaga

While Delta is still catching heat for offering its newly-designed flight attendant uniforms -- a red sexy Richard Tyler wrap around dress -- in sizes 18 and lower, Air Tahiti Nui is also tinkering with crew uniforms.
The airline commissioned Balenciaga to design new uniforms in honor of its 10th anniversary. There are twenty new uniform styles in total, including those for pilots and ground personnel. One is a more traditional flight attendant outfit, a suit or suit-like affair, rendered in a solid ocean blue and a lighter "lagoon" blue, sort of an aqua. It's pretty, if not envelope-pushing (and I'm not completely sure I see the Balenciaga look to it) but the good news you only see it when you're boarded and de-planing, in-flight, because sometime after take-off the cabin crew does a take-off of their own -- they slip into something more comfortable.
Sadler Vampire Light Sport Aircraft

Vampires seem to be everywhere these days in the media from books to media to television. But here is a Vampire you can fly. Sadler Aircraft Company is planning to announce its next-generation Vampire Light Sport Aircraft at EAA Airventure 2009.The Vampire is built on a scaled back air-to-ground fighter plane airframe. It is designed so that the prop is behind you, as is the engine and twin tail-booms. Also the wings double-fold vertically a la an aircraft carrier-based WWII bomber so it can be easily trailered. The low-slung plane has wide cabin doors and a low entry point so it's more like getting into a sedan than an airplane.

Adults Only

The Four Seasons Maui at Wailea has just opened a major new feature at the resort: a new infinity-edge saltwater pool, surrounded by a 4,100 square foot terrace -- all of it ocean front, with views of Lanai and West Maui Mountains. They're calling it the Serenity Pool, and that's because it's adults only (over 21) so no irritating splish-splash-marco-polo-ing from the wee ones. (Kids can use the other lovely pool that's not that far away.)
The new Serenity Pool has underwater music, four bubble loungers, two hot tubs, and a walk-up and swim-up bar. You can arrange for massages and facials pool side.
There are also six 160 square foot cabanas available for daily rental, with internet access, ceiling fans, couches, chaise lounges, flat screen HDTVs. And for the workaholics among us, the cabanas also offer WiFi and wired internet access. There's also a laptop safe if you feel ready to put down the computer and take a dip.

Rocawear Barbie

How’s this for Ghetto Fabulous — a new line of Barbie dolls done up Jay-Z style in Rocawear.
The limited edition collection was developed by Roca and Mattel to celebrate the fashion brand’s 10th anniversary.
The dolls are colorfully dressed, but relatively bling-free — and come in a wide range of multi-culti skin hues!
There’s even a smiley-faced Roca-Ken who just looks happy to be there.
The Rocawear/Barbie get-together follows Mattel’s recent uber-Barbie fashion-fest, which saw designers such as Vera Wang, Diane von Furstenburg, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Tommy Hilfilger, Badgley Mischka and Alexander Wang create one-off designs for a NYC Fashion Week Runway show in February.
Sadly, even though the Barbies are from Jay-Z, he and Beyonce don’t make Mattel guest appearances.

Beauty drinks have gradually been growing in popularity of the last couple of years. The latest is Glowelle which is owned by Nestle and has been making a splash since its launch last year. Glowelle comes in both ready-to-drink bottles and in mixes in two flavors, raspberry-jasmine and pomegranate-lychee. Glowelle says the drink contains high antioxidant nutrients, botanicals and fruit extracts include green tea and goji berries that will beautify the skin. The drink is sweetened with cane juice and has 100 calories for the drink and 50 calories for the powdered formula and it carries a pretty steep price ($112 for a 30-day supply of packets while a similar product, Borba is $100 for 60 packets). The taste is both fruity and floral with a bit of a strange aftertaste. Buy yours through Neiman Marcus and they'll throw in a free tote for purchases over $50.

work for oprah

Working for Oprah certainly has its perks. The AFP is reporting that Oprah Winfrey celebrated her 55th birthday in Barcelona with 1,700 of her employees and their families. The party took place over the weekend at Poble Espanyol, a popular tourist destination with shops, bars and restaurants. Her lucky guests will spend three days in the city before embarking on a 10-day Mediterranean cruise aboard the Norwegian Gem liner sailing to Italy, Turkey, Greece, and Malta. The ship has 11 bars and lounges, 12 restaurants, pool, hot tubs, a beauty salon, spa, casino, cigar club, library and even a bowling alley. Oprah is said to be spending around $5,400 per person on the cruise.
CLear shuts down

There are a lot of angry frequent fliers today. Verified Identity Pass, the company that offered the Clear program has shut down. For an annual fee, Clear helped travelers skirt through faster airport security checkpoints. Members of the Clear program had to go through an intensive screening process and pay membership fees of 178 to $199 per year. Because the company is in bad financial straits, Verified Identity Pass is not issuing refunds.
The company said it wasn't able to negotiate a deal with its creditors, and its Clear fast-lane security check service stopped operations abruptly late Monday. More than a quarter million customers won't get refunds of membership fees that ranged from $178 to $199 per year and many people bought multi-year memberships. Some Clear members found out via e-mail but many did not learn that the program was over until they showed up at the airport.
peter blake for stella

We still curse the sense of fiscal responsibility that kept us from purchasing those splendid Jeff Koons-printed frocks that Stella McCartney-showed for spring 2006. Now older, wiser, and able to subsist for weeks on a family-size bag of mixed nuts from the dollar store, we're not about to let her latest art-tastic collaboration pass us by. Famed artist and designer Peter Blake (or as we call him, "Sir Peter") has created a print for McCartney that appears exclusively on a summer capsule collection she designed for high fashion e-tailer net-a-porter. As you might recall, Blake designed an album cover for a band in which McCartney's father played.
The Blake-designed cloud print appears on a breezy silk jersey dress and shirt as well as beachy accessories such as strappy espadrilles and a canvas bag. There's also a cloudy t-shirt (organic cotton, of course) and a coordinating pair of dip-dyed skinny jeans.

STELLA KIDS

STELLA MCCARTNEY is to launch a collection for GapKids and babyGap, it was announced this morning, and the British designer - and mother-of-three - couldn't be more excited.
"For years now I've wanted to create a collection for kids, it's something I've often been asked about," McCartney revealed. "I believe that this one off collaboration will be a great way for customers to be able to participate in the Stella McCartney brand."
The collection is set to launch later this year and will be available in Gap stores in the UK, France, Ireland Canada and Japan - as well as online and in stores across the US.
"I believe that kids clothing should be more accessibly priced, which is particularly important at the moment given the current climate," the designer said. "It's really exciting for us to do a boys and girls collection for the first time."
Anna Wintour Left Jason Wu's Show to Go Watch Roger Federer Play

Anna Wintour arrived to take in Jason Wu's Cruise 2010 show at the Greenwich Hotel in New York, but took a phone call and left four minutes before the show started, leaving Wu's publicist confused. A Vogue staffer told Fashion Week Daily: “She had a plane to catch. But she saw Jason’s entire collection earlier and really liked what she was looking at.” Today, she showed up in Paris with boyfriend Shelby Bryan to watch her favorite athlete Roger Federer try to win the elusive French Open. Maybe she'll be meeting Bee Shaffer, who was in Venice yesterday, at some point?
Aw, you’re nervous. Biting your nails? Take those fingers out of your mouth.
Want to know where I’m putting mine? Under a heat lamp. To get your paws on the metallic, mirror-finished nail coverings, you have to warm them up.
That’s how those sun-kissed California girls do it. Just pick your brassy pattern: silver foil, pink leopard, gold lightning, chrome tweed, fishnet. Once your digits are buffed, decals are applied with heat and trimmed down to fit your nails. What do you mean you’re wet? No, baby, there’s no drying time.
Manis are chemical and chip free. Doesn’t that feel good? If they peel a little — prematurely — just run them under the hair dryer until hot to the touch.
That should satisfy you for at least ten days.

Alife Presents

Walk down Rivington Street on the Lower East Side, and at a point just before it crosses with Clinton, you may or may not notice a few doors marked only with plaques bearing the Alife logos.
Slowly but surely, the New York streetwear brand has taken over three storefronts next to and across the street from each other, and this month will add a fourth. Alife Presents, as the space at 157 Rivington is to be called, will be a gallery and event spot for the company who often host events in the backyard of their other stores.
Officially opening its doors on June 11 with a solo show by Kai Regan, the NY Alife Presents will be overshadowed by the opening of one in LA on June 16, complete with an appearance by Shepard Fairey for the launch of his Arkitip issue.
Comme des Garçons BLACK,

Comme des Garçons BLACK, a line consistenting of Bearbrick/Medicom collaboration pieces and Comme classics in what is essentially designer Rei Kawakubo's response to the recession, is due on 10th Avenue and 17th Street by the end of this month. It should arrive around the same time as a special BLACK corner in Barneys, which has an even more limited time frame of 2 weeks from its June 22 opening.

japan's calling....
Special Offer from Continental Airlines:
$328 -- Tokyo from New York City (each way)*
Tokyo
Travel dates: Flexible dates, June - August
It's very rare to see airfare to Tokyo under $1,000 from anywhere in the U.S. That's why this fare from Continental -- $328 each way from Newark -- is a no-brainer.
This fare is $300 OFF prices we've seen on other airlines. Travel on select dates through August. Final prices will include approximately $90 in taxes.

Kanye-isms

Hip-hop star Kanye West has just published a book of "Kanye-isms" with co-author J. Sakiya Sandifer. Entitled "Thank You And You're Welcome," the slim book contains 52-pages of West wisdom.
In a blog-baiting Reuters feature, West bragged about being a "proud non-reader," and said he hoped to avoid the "wordy and so self-absorbed" style of novels. His mini-book collects aphorisms and brief stories from the artist.
Here's a philosophical sample from the book: "When walking down the street, you can walk in one line perfectly without ever falling over. Now take that same city block, make it a foot wider and then put it a hundred stories high. You're going to be so focused on the fact that you don't have a banister, that you're more likely to fall because of it. When you're so focused on what you don't have...you won't have!"

Sea Level is a really helpful site that collects 'links to the concrete coast' – in other words, anything that has to do with water activities. You'll find resources for boating, kayaking, rowing, swimming,
surfing, conditions, gear, and more. I love the sea, boats, and water (though I'll admit to being the swimmer)
Next on my list of things to do is swimming lessons.

She wrote and illustrated another feature in the August 4th issue of Time Out New York magazine, profiling Central Park portrait artists. Her Overlooked New York series has been selected to be featured in the 3x3 ProShow Illustration Annual No. 4.
French Open...comeback comes up short

Marat Safin angered the French Open crowd with his antics, made them ooh and aah with his shot-making, and finally coaxed them into warm applause when he walked off center court at Roland Garros for the last time of his tumultuous career.
The former No. 1 went through it all Wednesday, but he couldn’t pull off another win, losing to French wild-card entry Josselin Ouanna 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4), 4-6, 3-6, 10-8.
I heart Safin.
Richard Branson to buy Playboy?

Can Richard Branson be the new Hugh Hefner? Rumors are flying that the VIrgin Media tycoon is interested in the Playboy empire. The company has been allegedly shopped around for $300 million even though the market value is perceived to less than $100 million. Part of the reason for wide difference in figures is because the company wants to make sure that any deal will help Playboy's 83-year-old founder maintain his lavish lifestyle. Although one of Hugh Hefner's homes is on the market for nearly $28 million there is still main Playboy mansion and its tremendous upkeep to consider. He remains the editor of Playboy magazine and has said he wants to pass down his interest in the company to his teenage sons Marston and Cooper.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice

"A sorcerer leaves his workshop in the hands of his apprentice, who gets into trouble when the broomstick he's tasked to do his chores for him somehow develops a mind of its own..."
So I've been running around the country a bit....but in between the chaos I had a chance to "star" in the new Disney Flick (big budget). Well not exactly "star" but I was a "day player" meaning I had 2 entire lines!
The Movie comes out July 2010...and I'm crossing my fingers my two lines don't get cut!
but the saddest thing was that an extra was killed while they were filming a car chase scene uptown..yes, acting can be quite dangerous.
