Denim Bag

Mink Ipod Helmut

At his Paris fashion show on Sunday, the ever-entertaining Karl Lagerfeld debuted a new line of luxurious mink-covered scooter helmets with built-in iPod capability. The over-the-top accessories were created in collaboration with French luxury helmet maker Les Ateliers Ruby and Apple. They're road legal and feature full carbon fiber shells and ultra-soft burgundy nappa lambskin linings. The iPod hookup lets you pipe music directly to the earpieces.

$12,000 of destroyed LV

In a move that's sure to have the notoriously protective types at LVMH up in arms, a provocative New York-based artist has destroyed $12,000 worth of Louis Vuitton Alma handbags (above) for a new sculpture. Conceptual artist R. Lloyd Ming had an assistant purchase a dozen of the $1,000 bags at Louis Vuitton's Manhattan flagship over the holidays. He then cut them in half to make a sculpture for his new solo exhibit, "I Am Not Chinese." As the show's title suggests, the focus of the exhibit is China and what Ming calls the tenuous relationship between China and America, the artist's website notes. Ming's works addresses many controversial Chinese issues including censorship, capitalism under communist rule, trade imbalance and human rights.

M RESORT VEGAS

It's not the best time for it but a new casino has opened in Las Vegas in an off-Strip location. The M Resort Spa Casino is a $1 billion resort casino located on South Las Vegas Boulevard and St. Rose Parkway about 10 miles away from the central resort area. The M Resort offers wireless coverage throughout the resort and also features an on-site gas station and M Pharmacy. The resort has 390 guest rooms and suites ranging from 550 to 2,400 square feet. Rooms all have pillow-top beds, a Bose sound system and 42-inch flatscreen television and the bathrooms include an inlaid mirror television and separate bathtub and shower.

MOON CHAIR

Patio furniture isn't often described as whimsical but I think this Cheshire Chaise Lounge from Lifeshop earns the description with its half-moon shape and cheerful orange color. Lifeshop offers an entire collection of patio furniture in this wicker-like plastic resin weave, which looks just as earthy and cozy but lasts quite a lot longer. How nice to kick back and relax in your very own moon.

u gotta love JAPAN

lily's broke

Provocative British pop star Lily Allen is so flat broke she's had to sell her BMW - and the banks won't lend her any more money. Despite having sold millions of records, the star is in such dire financial straits she decided to get rid of her 3-series convertible. "I've been hit big time by the credit crunch," she tells the London Daily Mirror. "Actually, I just had to sell my car because I'm so broke. I bought the car last year and that was probably my biggest extravagance. Clothes too, I'm always buying clothes."

harry potter

The Harry Potter economy is alive and well. A softcover copy of the first Harry Potter book sold for a record $19,120 in a rare books auction through Heritage Auction Galleries in Dallas Texas on Friday. The 1997 first edition of Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone with the original publisher's illustrated softcover wrappers also featured an illustrated card signed by the author, J. K. Rowling. There were only 200 copies in the first printing and the winning bid this time was nearly double the previous record for this book set last October ($10,750). The winning bidder is from Dubai and is said to be a comic book collector whose wife is a Harry Potter fan.

golden bike

Aurumania has a mission to turn ordinary objects into sparkling, golden collectibles, and this Swarovski-studded gold-plated bicycle is a perfect example of that mission. Each Crystal Edition Gold Bike (available in a limited edition of only 10) is hand built and features "every visible surface" plated in 24 carat gold and more than 600 Swarovski crystals accenting the frame. I wouldn't think it's intended for real use on the street (they also sell a gold-plated bike rack for display, if you're interested) but they do offer a 10 year "no questions asked" guarantee so maybe it is. Can't imagine chaining it a bike rack on the curb though. €80,000

Watchmen...

Went to see Watchmen (my first movie experience in Ptown)...and it was ok. Not as great as I expected and much too gory for my taste...but entertaining (even though I did fall asleep at the beginning). Not to give anything away but the sex scene was my favorite :)

Blood: The Last Vampire

Saya is a secret slayer of demons sent undercover to a military base in Tokyo just before Halloween. Posing as a student, Saya discovers that the student body is slowly being turned into shape-shifting vampire creatures. As the gruesome blood-sucking threat grows, Saya finds that she and her special sword are Tokyo’s only hope in its battle to remain human.

Blood: The Last Vampire doesn’t have an official US release date yet but it is expected to debut at the Sci-Fi-London Film Festival on April 29.

from Rob-O...I miss Hong Kong now...such an awesome trip!

Watchmen

Watchmen comes out today...I'm dying to see it! I love movies with super heros, comic themes, villains and dark knights!

In a gritty and alternate 1985 the glory days of costumed vigilantes have been brought to a close by a government crackdown, but after one of the masked veterans is brutally murdered an investigation into the killer is initiated. The reunited heroes set out to prevent their own destruction, but in doing so discover a deeper and far more diabolical plot.
